The Heritage Coast

Rugged cliffs lashed by restless seas, secluded romantic coves and breathtaking views, fresh breezes and exhilarating walks make the Heritage Coast a must to see. This 14 mile stretch of protected coastline starts in the east at Aberthaw and ends in the west at Porthcawl. Glamorgan Heritage Coast Centre

Situated in Dunraven Park, Southerndown the Heritage Coast Centre is the base for the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. It includes a small shop and information centre and is well worth a visit for anyone wishing to know more about the coast and where you
can find out about the history, flora and fauna of the area.

Merthyr Mawr Warren

The mysterious windswept sand dunes are one of largest in Europe. Important wildlife habitat that shelters a rich variety of plants & animals and can be explored by a network of footpaths. The ruins of Candleston Castle, once a 15th C fortified Manor House stand at the edge of the dunes. Access is via the delightful village of Merthyr Mawr with its quaint thatched cottages. www.bridgend.gov.uk

Cosmeston Lakes and Country Park, Penarth

Whilst you walk on the wild side and explore the many trails, discover the hidden delights and fascinating wildlife. Kenfig National Nature Reserve

Newport Wetlands 

Come and explore a diverse variety of habitats and wildlife at this designated National Nature Reserve.
