Brecon Lodge Townhouse B&B 4 Star ****
Brecon Lodge B&B, a delightful and comfortable Victorian residence, is close to the seafront and ideally located for central Cardiff, the Millenium Stadium & Cardiff Bay. Lying on the west side of the city, we have "no-problem" (dim problem) parking, as well as excellent public transport by bus and train, which run every 8/15 minutes.
Yet you are just five minutes walk from the fascinating waterfront, and a short drive into fine open countryside.
Wonderful shopping, top entertainment, premier sports events, all are easily accessed from here. Our website is: www.breconlodge.co.uk.
You can easily Check Availability and Room Prices by clicking here www.breconlodge.co.uk/roomavailability.htm
The Wales Millenium Centre ("Opera House") is just an eight minute taxi ride, and many theatre patrons are choosing to stay with us, to sample both Welsh Hospitality and Welsh Culture, whilst Brecon Lodge is also ideally situated for artistes and their managers, who need to be at the Stage Door within less than 10 minutes.
Each of our rooms is individually furnished, and each retains the charm and character of the period, when our residence was first constructed. Carefully chosen soft furnishings, good furniture and quality decor, all make your restful stay an experience to remember.
In the morning, Gaynor serves a tasty breakfast, (included in our room prices) that will keep you going for many hours. Fresh produce, purchased locally, is the essence of Brecon Lodge's attention to detail. This will include fruit juices, a range of cereals, brown and white bread/toast, boiled eggs to order, together with honey, marmalade, jams and more !
We are asked, daily, how close we are to Cardiff, and its bright lights. Well, just 15 minutes drive by fast car, fast train or fast bus, is the quick answer ! Our guests can be watching rugby, football, the cinema, Welsh National Opera or a Pop concert, within a few minutes of leaving Brecon Lodge. Many guests prefer to leave their cars safely with us, and take an inexpensive ride on public transport, to the front door of Cardiff's many attractions. Why not follow them!
From "Brecon Lodge" you can also take bracing coastal walks towards Cardiff Bay, with its lively yacht marina and passing shipping, or towards Lavernock Point and Sully Island. At Lavernock, Sngr. Marconi sent the World's First Radio Signals across Water, from the farmyard to Flat Holm Island, and, a few days later, as far as Brean Down, near Weston. Sully Island has the remnants of an ancient fortress, as well as a dangerous current on incoming tides, which can trap the unwary!
Penarth itself is a gem of a Victorian town, largely unspoilt, and containing outstanding examples of period architecture, unrivalled in Wales.
Many of our visitors take the Penarth Town Trail, following the red footprints on a free easy to read map of the route, whist other guests jump on the first bus to the City, to sample the bright lights and local beers. For more information about Cardiff, go to website www.visitcardiff.net.
We are happily signed up to the Wales Tourist Board's Walkers and Cyclists Welcome schemes, and are pleased to welcome you on your route through the "Beautiful Vale of Glamorgan" and "The Garden by the Sea".
"Brecon Lodge" is a proud Founder Member of the Vale Marketing Group, and the Cardiff Tourism Network of Cardiff & Co.
Accommodation
Each room is fully heated, and fitted with excellent quality furniture, fine cotton linen, free colour television, and a complimentary coffee and tea tray. Beds are very comfortable, with fully sprung mattresses, alarm clock and radio, whilst the rooms and decor reflect the charm of that great Victorian period. Naturally we provide fluffy towels, fluffy bathrobes, Welsh soap and shampoo. We have gone to great lengths to retain the original materials and character of this splendid Gentleman's residence. All rooms have delightful views, either towards the sea, or across the distant rooftops towards northern Somerset and Exmoor.
Brecon Lodge is ideally placed to reach central Cardiff. Fast buses run from the nearby bus stop every 8 minutes throughout the day, and drop you off outside the Millenium Stadium or St. David's Shopping Mall, both in the heart of the city centre. Go to Central or Queen Street Stations by rail, for either the Millenium Stadium, or shops and theatres.
