Duffryn Mawr Cottages

Duffryn Mawr Self Catering Cottages are part of a family home situated in an acre of land approximately 3/4 of a mile from the village of Pendoylan in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Kingfisher Cottage has 2 bedrooms, 1 double and 1 twin and Swallow Cottage has one double bedroom. They are both sympathetically converted from a stone barn, however have fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms and open plan living areas with sofa beds for extra occupancy if needed.

Both the cottages are very light and airy to a high standard with views over the surrounding countryside. All the bedroom windows look out onto the quiet country lane and hedgerow which is full of wild flowers. They have ample safe parking and both have private south facing patio / gardens.

A modern, however, "in-keeping" 1 bedroom studio apartment, fully self contained with private parking and a private south facing patio. LPG heating and electric cooking facilities. The views of the Vale of Glamorgan are spectacular from this stylish yet cosy apartment. The bedroom is large and bright and has a pine double bed and a full size single bed so ideal for couples or small families.

The local village of Pendoylan is walkable and has a lovely pub, The Red Lion with great food. In the next village, Peterston Super Ely there is another lovely pub, The Three Horseshoes.

Unbelievably the M4 is within a couple of miles and there is easy access to a great number of golf courses including The Vale, Royal Porthcawl, The Celtic Manor (home of the 2010 Ryder Cup), Cottrell Park and Rolls of Monmouth, to name but a few. Chepstow and Cheltenham racecourses are within an hour or so drive. Tee off times and race cards can be arranged with prior notice.

The beautiful Heritage Coast is a few miles away with superb walks and scenery. An approximate 15 minute drive takes you to Merthyr Mawr sand dunes, estuary and the beautiful Ogmore beach where horse riding to all standards is available. There are many public footpaths close by some of which will take you to the next village of Peterston Super Ely, however please follow the countryside code.

Roughly 8 miles away is the bustling centre of Cardiff City with its numerous attractions including museums, the amazing Wales Millennium Centre where many West End shows perform, currently Oliver, visit their website at www.wmc.org.uk, Cardiff Castle, Cardiff Bay and the spectacular Millennium Stadium, home to Welsh Rugby their website is www.millenniumstadium.co.uk.

Heading west for a few miles is the small, however bustling and trendy market town of Cowbridge with its designer shops, wine bars and plenty of traditional pubs.

On the 1st, 3rd and 4th Saturday of each month the farmer's market is held in Cowbridge, Penarth and StFagans where locally grown produce can be bought. Fresh vegetables are available from the cottage garden in season.

Kingfisher and Swallow cottages are easily used as one larger cottage that can sleep 6 and include The Loft parties of up 2 nine can stay. We also have three sofa beds so have had up to 12 staying when groups have visited for the rugby, weddings or concerts.

Accessibility

Kingfisher and Swallow Cottages are accessed via a communal front and door and each have 3 small steps on entry. Swallow Cottage is all on one level. Kingfisher Cottage has 3 small stone steps into the kitchen.

Directions

Exit the M4 at Junction 34 and follow the signs for Pendoylan. Passing Hensol Golf Academy on your left keep following the road around the bends and keep straight until you reach Clawdd Coch guest house. You need to take the immediate left here. Follow the land all the way until it starts levelling out and you will find us on the right hand side.
